Choosing curtains for your bedroom is easy if you have ready made curtains which match your bedding but if you don’t want everything matching there are some key points you should look for when choosing your bedrooms curtains.

First of all who is sleeping in the bedroom?

If it a child’s room you may want to ensure that as such light as possible is blocked out so that your child doesn’t wake up at the crack of dawn, complain they can’t get to sleep during the lighter summer evenings or are at an age when an afternoon nap is still require. The easiest solution is to have blackout linings on your curtains or use blackout blinds in conjunction with curtains.

You could opt for plain or patterned pink curtains for girls and blue curtains for boys, alternatively you could break from the stereotypical and choose an alternative primary bold colour for toddlers and young children’s rooms with fun character patterns such as zoo animals or the alphabet. If you have a theme to your children’s room it makes sense to try and obtain curtains depicting the same super hero or favourite TV character.

Teenage bedrooms will look stunning in the latest neon colours, coordinated with black or brown. As fickle as teenagers can be, it maybe a good idea to let them choose their own bedroom curtains, that way they’ll be happy!
