There is also an easy solution to this dilemma, and that is to use the in trend window dressing of using a blind in conjunction with fully lined curtains. This effect not only looks gorgeous it also supplies you with a triple layer of insulation, helping to retain the heat within your room during the winter months whilst in the summer the heat build up is also reduced.

Using fully lined curtains is a practical and effective method of controlling heat, the lining will also help your curtains to hang beautifully as well as reducing your curtains from fading in harsh sunlight.
