In the last post we looked at five different ways to bring outdoors indoors. Today we offer five more tips and ideas for you to bring outdoors indoors and make your rooms merge effortlessly into your garden and outside space.

Add plants: Probably the easiest way to marry the two areas together is to have large, healthy pot plants indoors. This can give the look of a conservatory and link it to your garden. This is a cost effective way to marry the two areas which suits any style of home and décor.

Use bold printed curtains for a contemporary style

Admire the view: It’s pointless trying to bring outdoors inside if your garden is a mess! Give yourself a great view which will invite you to look further. Dramatic planting, lots of greenery and bold colour schemes are ideal in the garden. Use bold printed curtains for a contemporary style or opt for floral made to measure curtains to provide a refined and elegant look which compliments your view.

If you have pink rose beds in your garden choose pink curtains with roses in the same colour tones as the natural flowers and you’ll be reminded of summer all year long!

Clever interior decorating: Choose a strong interior decorating scheme that really reflects your garden beyond the windows is a clever way to merge the spaces. Make a focal point of one wall by using choosing floral, foliage or a bold graphic wall covering.

If you’re overlooked by neighbours: If you are overlooked by neighbours you’ll want some privacy in your living space, so choose your window dressings wisely. Venetian blinds that can be left open so that you can see the garden are one choice another is to buy semi-transparent roller blinds or voile curtains.

Whichever you choose remember that it’s your outside space that you want to be able to see every time you walk into the room. Also remember that once you switch artificial lights on indoors many window dressings become transparent, counteract this by using outside lighting as these will reflect off of your windows or patio doors!

Flooring: If you’re on a budget you needn’t spend a small fortune matching your flooring. If you’ve got wooden floorboards or even laminate flooring, you can mirror this outdoors with decking. Just ensure the boards all run in the same direction so that the eye has a path to naturally follow.
