Pinch pleat curtains offer an elegant and refined look which suits all styles of homes beautifully. You can use either curtain tracks or curtain poles and rings to suit the style of your interior.

There are variations of this style of curtain, including triple pleat, often referred to as French pleat, and goblet headings which are a ideal if you want a rich and opulent look to your windows.

The best fabrics for French pleats are medium weights as they hold the pleat perfectly, pinch pleat headings work well on all weights of fabrics including lightweight voiles.

Typically there are groups of three pleats which are spaced evenly apart, pinched together (hence the name) with a simple stitch at the bottom which can either be left plain or accentuated with a covered button. This provides a formal and crisp curtain heading which works best with other soft furnishings which are tailor made and exact in their appearance.

It’s possible to have pinch pleat curtains made to measure, you can also use ready made styles or opt to make your own. All versions can either be lined or unlined, however as with most curtains having a lining will help the curtains to hang better, along with being ideal for helping stop the curtain fabric fading, particularly on south facing windows. Curtain lining is also a great way to help reduce heat loss during the winter.

These beautifully styled curtains are ideal for all rooms, looking stunning in dining rooms, lounges and ideal as bedroom curtains. For a more opulent look pleated valances add an extra touch of refinement and elegance in luxury interiors, more especially when coordinated with bedding.

Pinch or French pleat curtains suit interiors which have a more feel and style, as such you’ll often find them used in chic hotels and as the ‘hotel’ look is on-trend they’re a great way to give your windows and your home a new look.

To be at their best you should opt for full length curtains as this enables the pleats to been seen in their full glory, likewise plain colours such as cream curtains rather than patterned curtains also highlights the pleats beautifully.
