We will be taking a very good look at how you can design a contemporary and chic bedroom that is still casual and welcoming. Our bedrooms are a retreat at the end of the day and should be easy on the eye and stimulate a good night’s sleep. Some modern designs are very beautiful but so over-the-top that it can be difficult to unwind. Sleep is needed and a casual approach to modern concepts will give you exactly what you need! Want to know how it is done? Read on…
The elements of contemporary interior design include clean lines, open spaces and neutral colour arrangements. There is no problem to use these ideas in the bedroom – but make sure that it isn’t too uniform by adding your favourite fabrics, plumping up the cushions and employing good window treatments for privacy.

Both clean lines and more feminine shapes can work well in the bedroom. The one will make the room clean, simple and relaxing where as the other is more romantic and cosy. What happens when you want to tie all this up together? Go with the clean lines for example and you have a sleek look but with luxurious bedding, cushions and throws it becomes instantly warmer and more seductive on the eye. Have a think about velvet cushions or a woolly floor rug. Adding a feminine accent colour such as a soft pink or lavender will complete the look.
Alternatively, if you prefer beds and furniture to have sexy curves then choose an ornate bed-head and bring it into the 21st century by keeping bedding plain and simple – crisp white is an ideal choice. In contrast to the curves you could also have a more contemporary room by using simple blinds as opposed to heavy curtains.
Fabrics will play a large role into converting streamlined chic into a more casual and luxurious boudoir. The key to getting it right is doubling up on layers and choosing different textures in the materials – it sure overcomes the problem of too much of the same! For the best approach, choose one colour and use two, three or even four tones of that colour. Bedroom curtains will help too if the room needs more romance – have them hang to the floors and choose a shade of turquoise to keep up to date with the latest trends.
