Who doesn’t love colour and how different hues can dramatically change your interiors? Everyone has a favourite colour for their home and will use touches of it throughout. Sometimes though, a colour change is good to update rooms and liven up the place!

If you want to experiment with colour but don’t know where to begin, have a look at the latest colour trends for interior decorating and consider adding them in as an accent or to be used in a new colour scheme throughout the home. As seasons change, so do the colour trends which means there is a great choice to choose from. Some colours will be so hot that they are worshipped the entire year – these are the colours we want to present to you and offer our suggestions for using them. Starting with a balmy and bright summer hue – hot pink in lounge décor!

Hot Pink Profile:

Hot pink is a passionate colour to counteract the gloomy days of winter (or our difficult financial times). This colour trend is shocking in a good way – breathing life into our lounges and presuming some luxury. Hot pink will seduce the home owner, bringing warmth and a higher sense of comfort. It will pick up and revitalise tired, neutral colour palettes and is easily complimented with lighter shades of other colours – in particular green, lavender or coral.

Decorating Tips:

  • White and/or neutral lounges have been very popular running up to 2010. Now the time has come to inject some playfulness with hot colours such as our beloved pink! Adding it in with accents and splashes here and there will give a sense of surprise and certainly a joyous atmosphere. Think about a set of new pink curtains in a bold block colour or as a pattern with white – flowers or small polka dots are funky for lounge curtains. Take the same pink to use in sofa cushions, throws and a piece of wall art. Another colour such as orange used in equal amounts will add more interest to the room.
  • For those in favour of a lounge that is more relaxed and predominately cool with its colour choices, hot pink can be added to one statement piece just to bring a punch of vibrancy. Have a think about cool neutrals and a light shade of blue to be used on walls and pale blue curtains. Then bring a statement armchair upholstered in bright pink – it really changes the scene with minimal effort.
