Interior Design: Bedroom Trends for 2012 5: Exotic Luxury

January 15, 2012 by admin · Leave a Comment

This style encapsulates the four other top bedroom trends. The focus being on luxury and indulgence in a sympathetic and stylish way rather than being brash and tacky. Interior designers have embraced the mysterious by using black and white, wood, soft golds, the Black Water Dragon, themes, collections and reflective surfaces to bring a fresh and exciting look to this year’s bedrooms.

To get the look:
You can include all of the above elements into your bedroom just as long as they are used in moderations and don’t fight against each other visually, otherwise you’ll end up with a bedroom which has no true identity and will simply cause confusion and chaos.

Polished wood, glass and mirrors sit side by side with silky bedding and beautifully dressed windows. If you choose soft gold metallic bedroom curtains you’ll have used two of the trends without even realising it! Add in satin bedding and carefully chosen accessories and the look will fall into place naturally.

If you’re opting for the black and white style you can still capture the other trend of reflective surfaces with your choice of lighting, mirrored or wooden furniture and flooring without the main black and white theme being lost. White voile curtains will add a soft look to large picture windows, opt for voiles with a lining for the sake of modesty if needs be. Full length curtains are a must when you’re going for an exotic and luxurious look. For a more mysterious look black ready made curtains made from sumptuous organza will tick all the right boxes in larger bedrooms. Accent with oceanic blues and greens or gold to highlight the exotic without being brash and tardy.

Remember to maximise space, none of the five trends, including this one, allows for clutter and mess. Make 2012 the year where you rid yourself of clutter – you’ll be surprised at the difference it will make to your well-being and the look of your home. Money may be tight, but that’s no excuse for not adopting new interior design ideas. Take a look at any glossy interior design magazine or blog and you’ll see that everyday clutter isn’t shown – everything has its place and is meticulously put there at the end of each and every day!

Try not to over complicate things, remember the ‘less is more’ rule to obtain chic styling and a refinement which screams ‘class’.
