Beautiful Bedroom Designs: On-Trend Tangerine

February 20, 2012 by admin · Leave a Comment

Every year Pantone forecasts colour trends with interior design and this year their ‘official’ colour is ‘Tangerine Tango’. This warm, inviting colour is ideal for creating a relaxed and homely style while having the ability to perk-up tired looking homes. Some of you may remember that orange was an on-trend colour in the early 70’s and while we see different shades and hues of orange being used this year the colour is thought to be a pick-me-up in these difficult economic times.

Adding a natural warmth tangerine is an ideal colour for bedrooms and certainly a boost of much needed colour to bedrooms which have been a little bland and boring in magnolia! This refreshing colour does need to be used with a certain amount of restraint in a bedroom, otherwise you run the risk of making your bedroom too garish to be relaxing.

Used as your accent colour tangerine curtains and bed throws can confidently be paired to enhance magnolia or cream and bring it into the 21st century in style. For a modern look eyelet curtains are ideal, as lightweight voiles, with an eyelet heading, can be bought in single panels it gives you the opportunity to add a fresh new look to your window dressing by using one cream panel and one tangerine panel. Sitting side-by-side the visual effect is stunning as well as being a cost efficient way to up-date your bedroom.

Full length curtains will also add a touch of refinement and sophistication to your bedroom, softening any sharp edges (metaphorically) of your window casing. Eyelet curtains form their own wave effect pleats, so make sure that you use the correct width, with the rule of thumb being to be over generous with your measurements rather than scrimp – as this style of curtain panel pulled to its width limits may resemble a net curtain rather than a trendy curtain panel!

If you have a problem with light pollution in your bedroom lined voile curtains may be a more suitable choice; alternatively you could also use a blackout roller blind in either cream or tangerine to totally block out the light when pulled down in combination with the voile curtains – this ‘double’ window dressing won’t detract from the beauty of your bedroom curtains apart from allowing natural, soft diffused lighting effects, you do have the choice and of course it’s up to you whether you would rather than diffused lighting during the day time and early evening or prefer not to be irritated by unwanted light entering your bedroom.
