In this mini-series we’re going to take a look a 5 different master bedroom designs. Each uniquely different, offering you the choice of styles and colours to take inspiration from. As it’s Valentine’s Day today we thought we begin with a soft and delicate room with hints of strength to include touches of masculinity.

All white bedrooms are not a new interior design idea, they’ve been around for many years in both traditional (typically Scandinavian) homes as well as modern and contemporary. The ‘rage’ for an all white bedroom has diminished a little over recent years, as such designers are adding new on-trend features to bring them bang up to-date.
This year metallic elements and reflective surfaces are amongst the biggest trends, so, simply by adding these to an all white bedroom can lift it to new dimensions and revive its tired appearance. The great thing about this resurgence in white is that, for the most part, it’s the least expensive way to makeover a bedroom. White paint is undoubtedly the cheapest on the market, while bedroom curtains in fashionable floaty voile are also amongst the most affordable styles currently available.
To get the look your curtains need to be longer than full length so that they pool naturally onto the floor in a romantic and casual manner. Either pencil pleat or eyelet curtains are ideal as they form natural soft pleats without the necessity of any fancy or complicated headings.
This dreamy look also need to include white bedding, walls and flooring in a variety of different textures to stop the room from looking flat and bland. Add this year’s metallic and reflective surfaces by using mirrors and highly polished white metal, such as chrome. Glass also has its own natural reflectivity so this can also be incorporated for lighting shades – modern chandelier styles are currently on-trend, as well as glass or mirrored dressing table tops.
Your accessories should also stay true white – dressing table chairs with a mirrored back, chrome picture frames and even free standing mirrors should all sparkle and shine. It also within your accessories that you can masculine touches – for example chunky furniture with straight lines rather than curves can add a more manly look to the room, while the soft, floaty aspects lean towards femininity and associated feminine qualities. Getting the balance between the two is what makes this style of bedroom beautiful.
